Go Firefox
What browser are you using? If it is something other that Firefox, follow these steps:
- Slap yourself
- Pray to god to forgive you for using some crappy browser
- Get Firefox
Already using Firefox? Make it even greater with add-ons. Here are a few add-ons that i recommend using with Firefox
1. Adblock Plus: Ever been annoyed by all those ads and banners on the internet that often take longer to download than everything else on the page? Install Adblock Plus now and get rid of them.
2. Flashblock: Never be annoyed by a Flash animation again! Blocks Flash so it won’t get in your way, but if you want to see it, just click on the little play button that appears where the flash content should be.
3. Customize Google: CustomizeGoogle is a Firefox extension that enhance Google search results by adding extra information (like links to Yahoo, Ask.com, MSN etc) and removing unwanted information (like ads and spam). All features are optional and easily configured.
4. Fast Dial: Fast access to your favorite sites through thumbnails, like Opera speed dial.
5. Download Helper: The easy way to download Web videos from hundreds of YouTube-like sites. This works also for audio and picture galleries.
6. Foxy Tunes: Do you listen to Music while surfing the Web? FoxyTunes lets you control almost any media player and find lyrics, covers, videos, bios and much more with a click right from your browser.
7. Grab & Drag: Enables Adobe Acrobat-style grab and drag scrolling, Flick gestures, and Momentum scrolling in Firefox, Thunderbird, and Flock. The extension is easily toggled on and off for text selection and has a variety of customization options suitable for both mouse- and pen-based navigation.
8. PicLens: PicLens instantly transforms your browser into a full-screen 3D experience for viewing images across the web. Our new interactive “3D Wall” and built-in search function lets you effortlessly drag, click, zoom, and zip your way around a wall of pictures for an extraordinary viewing experience.
9. PDF Download: PDF Download relieves the pain experienced when encountering PDF files on the Web. Whenever you click on a PDF file, PDF Download lets you know before trying to open it, and then offers you choices such as downloading, opening, or converting it straight to HTML.
10. Screen grab: Screengrab saves entire webpages as images. It will save what you can see in the window, the entire page, just a selection, a particular frame… basically it saves webpages as images.
11. Download Statusbar: View and manage downloads from a tidy statusbar – without the download window getting in the way of your web browsing.
12. Greasemonkey: Allows you to customize the way a webpage displays using small bits of JavaScript. Hundreds of scripts, for a wide variety of popular sites, are already available at http://userscripts.org.
13. NoScript: Winner of the “2006 PC World World Class Award”, this tool provides extra protection to your Firefox. It allows JavaScript, Java and other executable content to run only from trusted domains of your choice, e.g. your home-banking web site, and guards the “trust boundaries” against cross-site scripting attacks.
Please note that these are just the add-ons that i feel are good and this list does not means that other available add-ons are not worth using. Feel free to explore more add-ons to make your browsing experience even better. And please let me know if you come across add-ons that you think should be mentioned here (just post info about them as comments). Cheers!
